Data collected from these beginning school year content assessments is used to provide evidence of annual student growth. Historically, the Force Concept Inventory (FCI) is used but you may also use Mechanics Baseline Test (MBT) as an additional data source. The exam assumes the student does not possess any physics knowledge beyond the basic understanding of the natural world. These exams are to be given again at the end of the school year comparing this data with that from the beginning year assessment thereby providing evidence of student growth.
